Lungau is a region in Austria that is relatively not one of the most known areas, but that makes it more interesting to discover. The special plateau above 1,000 meters, surrounded by the Tauern Basin with peaks above 3,000 meters, is uniquely situated. Because of this location, there are almost no so called ‘ föhn winds’ (warm, dry southerly winds developed in the lee of mountain ranges) and this area knows a high snow guarantee. And in the summer this region has the most hours of sun in Austria.

Unlike other large (famous) ski resorts, you can still find quietness in Lungau. So no queues at the ski lift in winter and no rivers full of raft boats in summer. The area is still authentic; no high buildings dominate the area, but only friendly Austrian chalets with a lot of planters. Discover and wander through the beautiful nature scenery full of mountains and babbling brooks. Enjoy the unspoiled and diverse landscapes and meet the friendly people in the village during the harvest festivals.
Haus Wendy is located in the village of Mauterndorf, right in the heart of Lungau area. Mauterndorf is a place where village conviviality and friendliness still have high priority. The beautiful buildings, a heady stream through the village and an ancient fortress makes this village an attractive and picturesque place. You won’t get bored here! Because of the tourists, nice restaurants and pubs there is always something to do in Mauterndorf and surroundings.
